Vreni Schneider maintained her dominance of women's slalom by storming to her 49th career victory with a superb second run at Sierra Nevada, in Spain. Victory, in 1min 41.30sec, moved her into the overall World Cup points lead with 1,110. It was the Swiss woman's fifth win in the eight slaloms this season. She has also been second twice. Sweden's Pernilla Wiberg was second, in 1:42.66, and dropped a point behind Schneider in the overall list. Schneider secured her success by flying down the second leg in 48.88 after being in 11th place after the first run.
