The Durham fast bowler Steve Harmison finished with match figures of 7 for 120 as the ECB National Academy XI beat their Australian counterparts by an innings and 31 runs.

The Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy, resuming on 217 for 4 in their first innings, lost 16 wickets in the day as Harmison and Yorkshire's Steve Kirby did most of the damage. Chasing England's 601 for 8 declared, the Australians were bowled out for 386, Harmison picking up 4 for 78 and Kirby 4 for 100.

Following on, the hosts were back in the pavilion for 184 as Harmison took three more wickets, Chris Tremlett, Ian Bell and Graeme Swann taking two each. The victory was England's third in three matches and the squad now comes home before returning to Australia on 12 January to resume their tour.

* Pakistan will play two Tests and three one-day games on their first tour of Bangladesh in January. The Tests will start in Dhaka on 9 January, and Chittagong the following week.The one-day games are scheduled for Chittagong on 22 January and Dhaka on 25 and 26 January.
