Bournemouth yesterday took an important step towards survival when creditors voted to accept the club's proposal to enter a Creditors Voluntary Agreement. The creditors have agreed to write off a proportion of the club's debts, and the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise are now expected to drop their winding-up action over unpaid PAYE and VAT totalling around pounds 300,000.

West Bromwich Albion will today complete the signing of the Preston winger Kevin Kilbane for pounds 1.25m.

Bolton, the Nationwide League champions, have won the FA's Fair Play award for the First Division, with Luton and Wigan taking the Second and Third Division awards.

Napoli, the Italian Serie A side, have signed Jose Luis Calderon, the Argentine international striker, from Independiente for next season. Last week Cesar Luis Menotti, the Independiente coach, confirmed he would be moving to Sampdoria next season.
