South Yemen appoints leaders
The breakaway state in south Yemen appointed a new leadership yesterday, led by Ali Salem al-Baidh, defying northern armies seeking to crush it, Reuter reports from Aden. Northern Yemeni authorities said their troops advancing on the southern stronghold of Aden had captured the south-eastern Shabwa province.
