Rouble warning
MOSCOW (Reuter) - The new head of Russia's central bank has signalled a change in economic policy, criticising his predecessor's moves to prop up the rouble and warning that the currency cannot be made convertible until the economy has stabilised. Viktor Gerashchenko said Russia had spent pounds 1bn in 1992 to support the rouble on the foreign-exchange market.
