JERUSALEM (AP) - On the eve of a critical Supreme Court ruling, Yitzhak Rabin, the Israeli Prime Minister, claimed that his expulsion of more than 400 Palestinians was having 'positive results' that would vindicate the action. The court is to issue a ruling today on the legality of the deportation.

If the court rules against the deportations, the government will have no apparent choice but to repatriate the Palestinians from their tent camp in Lebanon, effectively ending the crisis and heading off possible UN penalties. Despite international disapproval, Mr Rabin insisted he did the right thing.
