Israeli soldiers shot and wounded at least 24 Palestinians in another flareup of violence over posters depicting the Prophet Mohammad as a pig. Two Israeli soldiers were wounded in an explosion outside a Jewish settler compound in the divided West Bank city.

Dozens of Arab youths broke away from a peaceful protest which Palestinian dignitaries called in response to the discovery of the posters, and threw rocks and petrol bombs at soldiers and settlers. Soldiers responded by firing rubber-coated metal bullets. Israeli police on Saturday arrested a 25-year-old Jewish woman from Jerusalem on suspicion of pasting the posters. Reuters - Hebron
