Jerusalem - An Israeli military historian, Arieh Yitzhaki, said troops under the command of Israel's current Housing Minister, Binyamin Ben-Eliezern, killed some 300 Egyptian prisoners in the 1967 Six-Day war, but a spokesman said the minister denied all knowledge of the alleged killings.

The allegation follows a request from Egypt for Israel to look into reports that its troops killed dozens of prisoners in the 1956 Sinai campaign. A series of revelations and claims were set off a week ago by the admission of Arye Biro, a retired general, that he ordered the killing of 49 Egyptian PoWs during the campaign. Reuter
