Grateful Kuwait prepares to thank George Bush, its Gulf war saviour
The sign says 'Great Bush' and depicts the former US president in Arab head-dress, next to the American and Kuwaiti flags. It is part of the planned welcome for the man who rid the Kuwaitis of their Iraqi invaders in 1991. But there was a slight hold-up: the Emir's jet, carrying Mr Bush, his wife, Barbara, and their entourage of 59 made an emergency landing at Houston, Texas, after part of its port wing peeled away; no one was injured. The Bush party is now scheduled to arrive today.
