STRASBOURG (Reuter) - A British Conservative MEP apologised 'unreservedly' for calling a Labour female colleague an 'old bag' during a debate on food colouring. Michael Welsh was arguing that EC legislation would ban an additive which makes British 'seaside rock' bright pink. Pauline Green wanted stricter controls on food additives.
