Prunskiene accused of KGB links

VILNIUS (Reuter) - Lithuania's Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the former prime minister, Kazimiera Prunskiene, once a leader of the independence movement, had collaborated willingly with the Soviet KGB. Prunskiene denounced the verdict as politically motivated. It is now up to parliament to decide whether to strip Prunskiene, an influential left-wing critic of President Vytautas Landsbergis, of her mandate as a parliamentary deputy. The verdict is the fourth judicial review against accused collaborators. In March the court said a senior official in the Sajudis independence movement, Virgilius Cepaitis, had passed information to the KGB.
