Amnesty puts Egypt in dock
A COURT in Alexandria sentenced two Islamic militants to death yesterday as Amnesty International, the human rights organisation, expressed its concern at Egypt's abuse of human rights in its attempt to suppress the political violence from Islamic groups, writes Charles Richards .
Amnesty gave details of cases involving lawyers and journalists who had become victims of government repression in a report yesterday. It said thousands had been arrested.
