Cubans on jet ask for US asylum
MIAMI (AP) - A Cuban pilot overcame fellow crew members and flew his Soviet-made passenger plane into Miami airport. All but five of the 53 people on board, all Cubans, promptly requested political asylum.
The Aero Caribbean twin- engine turboprop was on an internal flight from Havana to the tourist resort of Varadero Beach. The FBI said it was investigating the case as a possible hijacking, but no arrests had been made.
