An American scientist who spent 18 months studying the ruins of the Chernobyl nuclear plant believes the radioactivity released during the 1986 disaster was up to five times greater than previous estimates, the Boston Globe reported yesterday, Reuter reports from Boston. Nuclear engineer Alexander Sich revealed the information in a dissertation for his doctorate.
