Chernobyl fears
LONDON (AFP) - The Ukrainian Environment Minister, Yuri Shcherbak, warned that the concrete shell encasing the damaged Chernobyl nuclear reactor is cracking and the plant is now 'the most dangerous nuclear facility on earth'. Speaking on Russian television in a broadcast monitored here, he said that at a recent meeting of a committee to decide the future of the shell, 'dramatic data was cited on the number of cracks, the condition of the construction and the fact that in case of an earthquake or other events all kinds of consequences are possible'.
