Bill Taylor, the acting ambassador to Ukraine arives to testify in impeachment inquiry

Donald Trump has lashed out at his own ambassador to Ukraine a day after he gave testimony to the impeachment hearings suggesting the president was behind a plan to withhold vital military aid in return for finding dirt on a political opponent.

The president tweeted: “Never Trumper Republican John Bellinger, represents Never Trumper Diplomat Bill Taylor (who I don’t know), in testimony before Congress! Do Nothing Democrats allow Republicans Zero Representation, Zero due process, and Zero Transparency....

“....Does anybody think this is fair? Even though there was no quid pro quo, I’m sure they would like to try. Worse than the Dems!”

Mr Trump continued: “It would be really great if the people within the Trump Administration, all well-meaning and good (I hope!), could stop hiring Never Trumpers, who are worse than the Do Nothing Democrats. Nothing good will ever come from them!”

In an earlier tweet, Mr Trump said “Never Trump” Republicans are “on respirators with not many left” and are “more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats.”

“Watch out for them, they are human scum!”

In his testimony to the Congressional impeachment probe into Mr Trump, Mr Taylor made clear that Mr Trump’s request for information into former vice president and political rival Joe Biden was contingent on military aid to the country, despite Mr Trump’s assertion that there was no such arrangement that was captured on a July phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Mr Taylor’s prepared remarks say that the ambassador was told that Mr Trump said military aid to the country was dependent on Ukraine making a public announcement that it would investigate business dealings between Ukrainian oil company Burisma and Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son who sat on the company’s board with the vice president served under then-President Barack Obama.
