Man found on fire with hands bound near New York highway
Grisly discovery of unidentified body made in early hours of Monday by fire crew
The body of a man was found on fire beside a New York City highway on Monday morning.
Responding to a 911 call, firefighters arrived on the scene beside the Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx just after midnight.
As they extinguished what was assumed to be a brush or rubbish fire, they made the gruesome discovery of the body.
News 12 reports that in addition to being burned, the unidentified man was naked with his hands tied behind his back. Other reports say that his feet were also bound together.
No vehicle was found nearby.
City medical examiners have removed the victim’s body and are investigating how the man died.
The New York Police Department is searching the area beside the northbound lane of the parkway near exit six in Eastchester for any evidence relating to the incident.
