A Croatian human rights activist's trousers fell down at the moment he received an award from the country's president.

Zvonimir Cicak, head of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, suffered the wardrobe malfunction as he reached out to accept the certificate from Croatian leader Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

Ms Gabar-Kitarovic did her best to preserve Mr Cicak's dignity as photographers took pictures of him.

The honour was presented to the activist and his committee for their work, ahead of International Human Rights Day.

Mr Cicak is Croatia's leading human rights activist and represented Croatia during the 1971 peace conferences in Milan, Rome and Stuttgart.

He campgaigned for the breakdown of Yugoslovia into a confederation of states and a distribution of national wealth among the most needy.

He also fought for an amnesty for political prisoners, and helped develop Croatia's current liberal political landscape.
