Unnatural Bodies at Broadgate

A display of trousers and shoes silhouetted against the skyline at the Broadgate development in the City of London, featured in the Unnatural Bodies exhibition, mounted by the artist Jim Whiting, which opened yesterday. The exhibition consists of everyday objects such as coats, suits and handbags transformed into a mobile spectacle by pulleys, winches and compressed air, which has given rise to some complaints from the surrounding offices. The half-mechanical, half-humanoid creations hover, whirl and crawl their way through and around the 12-metre (40ft) high cage in Exchange Square. Actors dressed as members of the public are also giving lunchtime performances of behaviour that is 'exaggerated and unnatural'.
