Carole Caplin dismissed claims last night that she was planning to "tell all" about her relationship with Tony and Cherie Blair.

A statement issued by her solicitor, Martin Cruddace, said the lifestyle guru had no intention of disclosing confidential information about the Blair family either in a book or newspaper articles. The statement said she issued the denial because of the "incredible speculation, rumours and false statements that have been recently widely publicised, including statements purportedly made by or attributed to Ms Caplin". It said she was particularly concerned about a story in the Daily Mail which suggested she was considering offers of up to £1m to publish a book about her relationship.

The lawyers said they would demand damages from the newspaper. A Daily Mail spokesman said its report was based on sources who had always proved reliable.
