AN article concerning mis-use of blank British passports (Independent on Sunday, 26 April) wrongly stated that Tony Chuck-Yun Poon had used a forged passport to enter Britain from Hong Kong. Mr Poon in fact travelled on a valid passport but was convicted of having a counterfeit passport in his possession.

The man travelling with him was not Li Yung Hing but Chi Hung Kong who was deported back to Hong Kong.

The solicitors acting for Mr Poon have requested us to point out that the allegation by the police that Mr Poon is in any way connected with the Triad is and always has been strenuously denied. Furthermore they have reminded us that the prosecution actually withdrew this allegation, accepting it as being without foundation.
