Two men have died in a crash on the M1 reportedly involving a car travelling the wrong way down the carriageway.
The crash, near junction 24, happened at about 2am.
An 87-year-old driver of a blue Mazda Premacy and a 27-year-old, who was a passenger in a white Ford transit van, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Before the crash the police received reports of a car travelling the wrong way down the southbound carriageway of the M1, a police spokesperson said.
The southbound carriageway and one lane of the northbound carriageway are currently closed between junction 24 and 25. They are expected to remain shut for most of the morning.
