More than 1,000 died of thirst in care homes

More than 1,000 people have died of thirst or with dehydration a contributory factor in their deaths in care homes over the last decade, figures released to the Daily Telegraph under freedom of information laws reveal.

Campaigners said the figures raise further concerns about the standards of care for the vulnerable.
