Danny Tetley, a former semi-finalist on The X Factor, has appeared in court charged with sexual offences against children.

The 38-year-old, who competed on the 2018 series of the ITV show and turned himself into the police earlier this year, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Friday.

Mr Tetley has been accused of five counts of inciting the sexual exploitation of a child, four counts of possessing indecent images of children, and one count of committing an act to or attempt to pervert the course of justice.

He is currently being held in custody and will appear at Bradford crown court on 27 September.

A statement from Mr Tetley’s lawyers states that he has been “under immense pressure and stress” since the police’s investigations into allegations against him began .

“He asks that due process be allowed to take place, and would be very grateful if during this very challenging time his and his family’s right to privacy is respected,” the statement continues.

Mr Tetley has denied all allegations.
