A teenager has been charged with murder after a 15-year-old boy was knifed to death, police said today.

John Marsh died in hospital on Saturday night after he was attacked outside a house in St Helens, Merseyside.

Police were called when residents reported a disturbance outside a property in Hempstead Close in the Thatto Heath area of the town.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder earlier today.

He will appear at St Helens Magistrates' Court this afternoon, Merseyside Police said.

A spokeswoman added that a 44-year-old woman, also arrested at the scene, was bailed pending further inquiries.
