Detectives investigating the murder of a wedding guest who was stabbed during a brawl have named a man they urgently wish to trace.

West Midlands Police also issued a photograph of Ricky Shaw, who is being sought in connection with the death of Thomas Berry.

Mr Berry, a 34-year-old father-of-two, died after being stabbed in the chest during disorder which broke out near a wedding reception in Bilston, West Midlands, late on Saturday.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Payne, who is leading the murder inquiry, said officers had carried out extensive inquiries to locate Shaw.

"We want to speak to him as soon as possible and ask either him to come forward, or for anyone who knows where he is to come forward," said Mr Payne.

Shaw, who is 22 and from Bilston, is described as mixed race, 5ft 7in and of medium build with brown eyes and short black hair.

Mr Payne added: "We strongly encourage him to come forward so that we can speak to him about exactly what happened on that night.

"There is a lot of talk in the Bilston community about what happened on that night. I believe it is in Ricky's best interest to come forward to police."

Three other people suffered stab injuries during the violence, which led to the arrest of three men who have since been granted police bail.

Anyone with information to assist the inquiry is urged to call CID officers stationed in Bloxwich, Walsall, on 01922 439107 or the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
