A man was remanded in custody today after being charged with the murder of a personal trainer who disappeared over two weeks ago.

Fitness instructor Donavan Van Lill, 29 - who also plays for Corsham Rugby Club in Wiltshire - had failed to meet with any of his pre-booked clients. His body has yet to be found.

Martin Sugden, 41 and from Stanton near Chippenham, appeared at North Wiltshire Magistrates' Court today.

Sugden's case was sent to Bristol Crown Court, where he will appear on April 6.

Some 15,000 people have joined a Facebook site appealing for information about Mr Van Lill, who was last seen at his home address on March 3.

Friends said the disappearance of the South African, who had been living in Chippenham, was out of character.
