BR to run 8,000 trains

BRITISH Rail plans to run 8,000 trains - more than 53 per cent of normal services, and a record for a strike day - during the signal workers' 19th strike, which is going ahead despite continuing negotiations between Railtrack and the Rail, Maritime and Transport union. Talks aimed at averting a London Tube strike next week were delayed until Monday.
