Two men died after a helicopter crashed beside the M6 in north Lancashire yesterday.

Police said the small helicopter had landed upside down and the rotor blade of the helicopter was believed to have come detached and landed on the M6 southbound carriageway at junction 35, near Carnforth. Around 20 firefighters were at the scene trying to bring burning wreckage under control. Eyewitnesses spoke of one body lying in the field while another was trapped in the cockpit.

Police were still trying to determine the helicopter's flight plan but it was believed to have come from the South Yorkshire area.
