TWO car bombs rocked north London just before midnight. The first was at Staples Corner at 11.41pm, the scene of two blasts last year, one of which devastated the area.

The second bomb went off five minutes later outside a dry cleaner's shop next door to a fire station in West End Lane, west Hampstead. Police cordoned off the area within minutes.

There was widespread damage to surrounding properties but no casualties.
