Scott Weiland, the former front man of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died at the age of 48.
Mr Weiland’s death was first reported by Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, who frequently collaborated with the singer.
The news was later confirmed on the musician’s Facebook page, saying Mr Weiland had “passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts.”
Me Weiland was due to play a show with his current band The Wildabouts in Hamal, Minnesota on Thursday night, however his body was discovered inside his tour bus at around 9pm, according to TMZ
The cause of death remains unknown.
Known for his grunge rock voice, Mr Weiland was a Grammy-winning frontman for a string of prominent rock bands,most notably Stone Temple Pilots.

Mr Weiland leaves behind his wife, Jamie, whom he met in 2001 when she photographed one of his music videos. They married in 2003.
Mr Weiland was born Scott Kline in Santa Cruz, California on 27 October, 1967.
