Obituary: Alice Tully
Alice Tully, arts patron, died New York 10 December, aged 91. Professional opera singer who achieved fame in the United States and Europe between the World Wars. She paid most of the estimated dollars 29m to construct the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. Awarded the Handel Medallion, New York City's highest cultural award, for her many donations to the arts, in 1970.
