Taylor Swift has been named the most charitable celebrity of 2013 in a list compiled by US social change organisation dosomething.org.
The country-pop singer has topped the annual 'Celebs Gone Good' list for the second year in a row, after she celebrated her 24th birthday by donating $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony.
One Direction came in second place thanks to their Comic Relief fundraising efforts, which saw them raise over £2 million. They also appealed to their fans to help raise $784,345 (£476,000) for cancer through Twitter in November.
The late actor Paul Walker was named the fourth most charitable celebrity of the year, after he founded charity Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW), an organisation that helps those affected by natural disasters.
The list does not make it explicitly clear how the celebrities were ranked, with notable exceptions including Leonardo DiCaprio, who donated $3 million to help save tigers in Nepal in November.
Angelina Jolie, who was awarded the Jean Hersholt honorary Oscar for her contribution to charity, also missed out on a spot.
Justin Bieber came in at number 20 for his efforts to raise over $1 million to support the Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, while Miley Cyrus was named 14th for (wait for it) showing her nipples.
The singer was listed for tweeting a picture of herself in the snow with her nipples covered by love hearts in support of the indie film Free the Nipple, a documentary questioning the censoring of the female body in the US.
Her entry on the dosomething.org list states: “Biggest year of her career AND using social media to raise awareness for a good cause? #thebestofbothworlds”
