Rumours are circulating that Russell Brand - the revolutionary that famously called on people to not vote - may be gearing up for an endorsement of the Labour party after Ed Miliband was seen leaving the comedian's Shoreditch home.

The Labour press team said Miliband was only there to record an interview, but no doubt the party might like the media coverage and support boost (Brand has nine million Twitter followers) that his support may bring. With the pollls showing that two main parties are still neck-and-neck, such a coup could count. However, Miliband did say he "profoundly" disagreed with Brand's views on voting.

Still, with David Cameron calling Brand "a joke," it is clear that the words and support of celebrities matter to politicians, who are ever keen to use these personalities to bolster their image and enhance their prospects with younger generations.

Perhaps Cameron is still reeling from having Gary Barlow backing him in 2010 - and then being found out as a tax dodger. The Lib Dems have seen a huge list of celebrities drop off their supporters list after a difficult five years of coalition government.
