You may have come across a picture of Boris Johnson being given an unwelcome hello as he arrived by bike to open a new cycling super highway in London.

The London Mayor received a cold reception from heckling cyclists as he rode in to open the contentious highway between Vauxhall and Oval on Friday.

One disgruntled cyclist decided to demonstrate his disdain with his middle finger in a moment that was captured on camera, much to the amusement of social media.

He finally reacted to being sworn at on Monday during his monthly Twitter Q&A after a user asked if he would ever consider the gesture being added to the Highway Code.

His reaction was as blithe as ever.

He also criticised the decision to ban the Lord’s Prayer advert from cinemas “outrageous” and demanded a U-turn from the advertising agency.
