50 Cent claims his flashy lifestyle is fake: 'I take the jewelry and cars back to the stores'

The rapper also told a judge he only makes 10 cents per album sale.

50 Cent has denied any kind of opulent lifestyle in court, claiming he doesn’t even own most of the jewelry he wears in public.

The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson III, has been locked in a tense legal battle over his fortune after being ordered to pay $5 million damages to Lastonia Leviston, a woman whose sex tape he distributed on the internet.

Jackson filed for bankruptcy within days of the order, claiming he didn’t have the money to pay.

Appearing in a Manhattan Supreme Court, Jackson’s lawyer said his client’s worth was $4.4m despite Forbes estimating his value at $155m only in May.

Jackson said in court that while he uploads flashy photos to Twitter and Instagram, he doesn’t actually a lot of the expensive products.

“I take the jewelry and the cars back to the stores,” he said, according to the New York Daily News.

When the judge asked about the 38 million record sales he has accrued since his debut in 2003, Jackson said, “I make 10 cents a record.”

He also said that he only made $100,000 from the two movies he is currently starring in, Spy and Southpaw.

When questioned about a Rolls Royce he purchased earlier in July, Jackson said he had to take two others back in order to pay for it.

“Now that I filed for bankruptcy, I’m not as cool as I was last week,” he admitted.
