Mother's murder appeal

THE MOTHER of murdered teenager Kate Bushell yesterday appealed for help to find the killer of a housewife, 41, who was stabbed to death in similar circumstances to that of her daughter.

Suzanne Bushell spoke out following the discovery on Tuesday of the body of mother-of-two Linda Bryant in a remote Cornish lane near her Ruan High Lanes home. She had been walking her lurcher dog Jay. It was 11 months ago that Kate, 14, had her throat cut as she walked her neighbour's Jack Russell in fields a few hundred yards from her home in Exeter, Devon.

Det Supt Mike Stephens, leading the hunt for Kate's killer was liasing with the squad of detectives seeking the killer of Mrs Bryant. Mrs Bushell said: "I am sorry it had to happen again."

Police want to trace a man seen talking to Mrs Bryant at 1.45pm, just an hour before her body was found. He was described as being in his 30s, 5ft 9ins tall and wearing light clothing. They also want to trace the driver of a white van. He was bearded, and in his 50s.
