Man quizzed after woman, 90, killed
A 21-year-old man from Telford in Shropshire was being questioned by police yesterday after the murder of a 90-year-old widow in her Leominster home on Wednesday.
Molly Lewis was killed during a burglary at her home. Detectives revealed that the killer sexually assaulted Mrs Lewis, stabbed her five times in the chest and then suffocated her.
Detective Superintendent Ian Johnston, who is leading the police investigation, said that Mrs Lewis's ordeal could have lasted for up to an hour before she died. "It looks as though she made a brave effort to defend herself," he said.
