Kohl seeks aid for Moscow

The German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, said he and President Boris Yeltsin had discussed prospects for Russia getting new financial assistance and that he would raise the issue with global leaders.

"I will consult ... other countries," Mr Kohl said after their talks outside Moscow. Russian officials, worried by big withdrawals from its financial markets, flew to Washington last week for talks with the IMF but details have not been made public. - Reuters, Moscow
