Harold 'Bodyline' Larwood is dead
HAROLD LARWOOD, the England fast bowler who was the scourge of Australia's batsmen during the controversial 1932-33 "bodyline" series, has died in Sydney aged 90. Larwood was England's principal weapon when captain Douglas Jardine opted to use short, fast-pitched bowling at the body to counter the batting skills of Sir Donald Bradman. A succession of injuries to batsmen caused outrage.
