Cyprus bomb defused
Bomb disposal experts yesterday defused a device found on a British Army base in Cyprus, the Ministry of Defence said.
The "primitive" bomb, consisting of two half-sticks of TNT, was found attached to a water pumping station on the Sovereign Army base near the Greek-Cypriot town of Akrotiri.
A disposal team disarmed the device, which was well away from any inhabited areas. No one was injured in the incident.
An MoD spokesman said: "It was a pretty primitive device which was successfully defused. There have been no claims of responsibility for planting it."
