Alexander Temerko, whose consortium hopes to bring electricity from a French nuclear power station to southern Britain (Independent, 1 Sept), has asked us to reiterate that his proposal is to connect an underground pipeline to the National Grid at Lovedean in Hampshire, 14 miles inland from Portsmouth. The suggestion that he might have to connect further north in Surrey was, Mr Temerko tells us, tabled by National Grid due to lack of capacity on the south coast, and is not therefore “his plan”, as our headline put it.
