Bin Weevils, the online game and children's website, is launching a range of toys and merchandising, after signing a multi-year licensing deal with the toy manufacturer Character Group.

The Bin Weevils site, aimed at seven-to 12-year-olds, appeals to users who look after their own weevil, a virtual animal, and can socialise with their friends.

Amelia Johnson, co-founder of the independent Bin Weevils Ltd, said: "Demand for physical ... toys has been driven by our growing digital audience."
