Fizz and fraud Valentine's brings out lovers of deceit
Films like the forthcoming Valentine's Day might suggest that love is pure, but maybe it's better dating someone a bit wicked this time of year.
Online credit and debit card fraud could reach £33m in the weeks up to 14 February as villainous wooers flash the cash to impress with perfume, flowers and champagne. Research by fraud prevention group Retail Decisions shows that regular buyers spend around £154 on their loved ones at this time of year. Fraudsters splash out nearly £350. The travel destination with the highest rate of attempted online fraud at this time of year is Cairo.
