PIGS flew in Chicago, with prices climbing 5.29 per cent on expectations that Japan will begin importing US pork sooner than expected.

CRUDE OIL futures plunged to a 13-month low, falling 7.54 per cent as traders bet ample global supplies will offset rising refinery demand in the US.

WHEAT futures slid 7.41 per cent on concern that buyers are delaying purchases until the new harvest lowers prices.
