BLUE-CHIP stocks rallied as a strong report on US job growth and news of cost-cutting at some multinationals helped send the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its second record close of the week. The Dow surged to close up 105.56 points, or 1.11 percent, at 9643.32.

The rally ended a record-setting week for the index in which it saw its second biggest point gain ever, and broke through the 9,400, 9,500 and 9,600 levels in a matter of days.
