The British husband and younger son of Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Rangoon yesterday for their first family reunion since she was released from house arrest 12 days ago.

Mrs Suu Kyi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize four years ago, was detained by the military government in 1989 after they had seized power. Her husband, Michael Aris, 49, a specialist in Tibetan studies at St Antony College in Oxford last saw her in December.
