Man survives bear attack with 41 stitches across his face
The bear was waiting for the man outside his Florida home as he let out his dog
A man needed 41 stitches after surviving a bear attack while he was letting his dog out of his home in Florida.
Andrew Meunier was confronted with the bear standing right in front of his door in Naples.
While being slashed across his head and torso, Mr Meunier got back through his front door, and was rushed to hospital with an eight-inch gash across his forehead and temple.
"I'm just happy to be alive," he told Fox4. "It could've been a totally different story."
Mr Meunier said he saw three other bears in addition to the one who attacked him, after the animals had recently been spotted walking around the apartment complex, according to neighbours.
There are thought to be several thousand black bears in the state, so sightings are quite common.
