A PASSENGER was arrested at Heathrow airport yesterday after incidents aboard a packed British Airways jet in which an inner window was smashed and passengers and crew attacked.

BA said the incident, on a Thursday flight from London to Thailand, was one of the worst cases of air rage it had seen. There had been no danger to the aircraft, however.

The 29-year-old man, who had been drinking heavily, ran through the Boeing 747 and broke an inside window before crew and passengers overpowered and handcuffed him, BA said yesterday. The pilot had diverted to Delhi airport and turned over the man to the Indian authorities.

The man, a resident of Hong Kong, was held under police guard at the airport until airline security officers brought him back to London yesterday.

Officials estimated the total cost of the incident at pounds 20,000.
