The complaints are almost as heated about BT

Just behind the energy giants when it comes to poor service are telecommunications companies. The Which? report said BT was third worst, with a poor 63 per cent rating, followed closely by TalkTalk (64 per cent), Vodafone (66 per cent) and EE (68 per cent).

Unsurprisingly, then, the other firm that has dominated my mailbag this week is BT. Nick Dasey said: "Why haven't there been howls of protests about BT's price increases this coming Sunday. Their three increases in the space of 294 days mean my Line Rental Saver will climb from £159.84 to £194.28, a rise of almost 22 per cent." He accused the company of making long-standing customers finance the generous offers made to its new ones.

Colin Cripps said; "I've been dealing with BT since April to try and get phone line and internet set up in my flat. They've failed to deliver at every opportunity – cancelling orders, failing to send engineers, not calling or contacting us about delays."

Others remain angry about the sneaky charges that BT began levying for sport from last month. One reader wrote: "I don't understand how they can justify adding charges to an account without communicating them to the account holder." I'll be passing on your comments to BT so keep them coming.
